Stockton's Opera

Stockton's kindergarten class put on a little opera today. Apparently, the kids decided on the plot and wrote the words themselves. It was darling and I was an extremely proud mother! Last year, Stockton didn't really participate in his preschool sing-along. Now, he's singing and dancing, and he didn't even mind the loud applause afterward. He's come so far this year!

Utah Grand Slam: Marathon #1, Ogden

The Utah Grand Slam is four different marathons done in a single year.  The first of these was the Ogden Marathon, which was last Saturday.  I don't know how I got talked into doing this.  I guess we'll see if I get through them all. 

Pre-race.  Mood:  Excited and feeling good.

Post-race.  Mood:  Happy under the circumstances.  I was at my goal time until mile 17.  My calf injury, that I've been fighting the last four weeks, decided to take over at that point.  I didn't think I'd finish but it turned out I only lost 19 minutes. 

The aftermath.  Mood:  Very disappointed. I can't walk without limping, which is discouraging since marathon #2 is in three weeks.  And, I feel that if I crippled myself I should have at least got the time I was after.  Oh well.  The biggest shock was this huge blister I got from the tape that was suppose to help my calf injury.  Amazingly, I didn't feel it during the run but I don't think I'll tape my arch again.    

Soccer

Stockton LOVES soccer. Don't let these pictures fool you. I was worried that Stockton wouldn't really participate (I signed him up for social reasons more than anything), but he was really into it. He's not exactly good, but he tries really hard. Stockton didn't know anyone on his team to start with but he's become friends with all of them. This turned out to be one of the best things we could have done.

He's actually trying to act cheesy in his individual shot. He wasn't screaming like it looks.  As for the group shot, there's no explanation--he wasn't happy.

Cast Removal

Mary got her cast off a few weeks ago.  Again, she was the model patient.  I was a little freaked out by how loud the saw was but Mary didn't seem to mind at all.  

 Her first reaction after getting her cast off was delight:

 But, when she tried to move her leg she realized she was stiff and sore.  She was like this for a few days and complained during this time more than any other time throughout this experience.  She was still a trooper, though, and was running soon after. 

Goodbye Spring, Hello Summer

Here are some random, end of spring pictures. The girls wanted to show off their new hair-dos for the camera:

Stockton learned how to ride a bike this spring (More on that later).  We went to the church one day to give him lots of space to practice.  The girls love riding bikes, too.
