Pre-race. Mood: Skeptical. After crippling myself in the last marathon and only capable of running a combined total 1.85 miles in between, not finishing was a definite possibility.
Post-race. Mood: Surprised and happy! I finished! I finished even though I was limping the entire race (I didn't really think I was but several runners told me otherwise).
The aftermath. Mood: Elated! This race was an entire new experience for me. I debated if I should even run it (and I probably wouldn't have if I didn't already pay for it), but I knew that I would lose a lot of enthusiasm to do the grand slam if I skipped out on this race (you can do one alternate race if you miss one). I took the run very slow, which made things delightful. I finished over an hour behind my Ogden time and yet I feel so happy about this race and so disappointed with the Ogden marathon. I guess your perspective makes a lot of difference. I didn't exactly run pain-free, but I felt good most of the way. The best part of the whole race, though, is checking it off my list. Two marathons down, two to go!

Wow! I am so impressed! I am playing with the idea of doing my first half marathon this year, now that seems so silly. You are amazing!
Congrats Maquel. That is a pretty awesome goal. Hope it continues to go well.
