With the exception of one minor scare, I've had a pretty uneventful pregnancy. In fact, it has been so uneventful that at my last check-up, my doctor acted like I would carry this babies until I was close to forty weeks (I had something different planned in my mind but the longer the better I suppose).
Well things have changed somewhat in the last few days. At my last ultrasound, the doctor noticed that one of the twins was not growing as rapidly as she had been. Apparently her abdomen is only in the 5th percentile, which basically means her sister is hogging all the nutrients. Other than that, both babies are doing well and the rest of their organs are developing nicely.
What this means, though, is that I have to start taking non-stress tests twice a week and doppler scans once a week to make sure that the placenta continues to function right. If that baby doesn't gain weight quicker, I'll have to deliver the babies sooner rather than later. Yikes! Hopefully that won't happen and the babies can stay inside as long as possible, but we're definitely getting down to the home stretch here. I'm suppose to rest as much as possible without officially being on "bed-rest."
On a much lighter note, I had this random dream before I was even married that my sister-in-laws and I were pregnant at the same time, and that one Sunday afternoon we posed for a picture with our bellies popping out. I know that's a strange dream but ever since then I've been determined to capture that image. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that is ever going to happen, so improvisation was needed. I, of course am due in October, my sister-in-law Lori is due in December, and my sister-in-law Laura had a baby in February. I'm afraid this is as good as it's going to get:
A dream sort-of come true!
